Week 5

How to See yourself

Quote: The self-portrait showed to others the status of the person depicted. In this sense, what we have come to call our own "image" the interface of the way we think we look and the way others see us.

Response: I find this statement to be very true. In the generation we are to dependent upon what others think about us or how they see us. We often don't take photos just for ourselves. We are hoping to be seen and noticed.

Quote: The Selfie depicts the drama of our own daily performance of ourselves in tension with our inner emotions that may or may not be expressed as we wish.

Response: We often are driven by our emotions. If we are happy take a good selfie, sad it's a melancholy selfie. At time we don't know what life is like without "documenting everything." We figure out our emotions through expression. And unfortunately its through selfies. It's like we have to see what we look like while feeling whatever emotion we're feeling on that day.

Quote: Photomontage could be used not merely to produce things heavy with political meaning...but...one could also regard it as a means of self expression

Response: To express oneself in the form of art, it can relieve pressure from the mind of the creator. Photomontage's are just bringing the elements around you to life.

Quote: There are so many political issues in other spheres of society...The art world is not where true urgency exists

Response:  When it comes to the art world there is no such thing as political. To society art is just art. The artist shouldn't bring anything political in their piece.
