Me as a Whole |
Quote 1: "Ms. Small pointed out that Kahlo “carefully groomed her unibrow,” a defiant choice" (6)
Response: I can connect to this quote because Kahlo wasn't afraid to be herself she embraced what others may find unattractive on her body she carried it on her shoulders through out her whole life. That's a bit like me with my birth mark on my face at first I was ashamed of it but eventually it became a part of me that I loved I felt it made me unique.
Quote 2: “People are very interested in the fact that she had relationships with women, but there’s only one known reference where she actually spoke about it,”(12)
Response: This statement felt like it hit home because me and my partner preference I keep it pretty private I don't just go around flashing and talking about it because some people use that as a way to study that preference because they think it's interesting or they judge a person for it negatively.
Wangechi Mutu Dresses Cultural Critique in Freakishly Beautiful Disguises
Quote 1:"Mutu addresses a similar issue... which shows a grass-skirted, hairy-armpitted woman communing with nature." (10)
Response: I love that this artist is addressed the "imperfections" of women and their connection with nature because in my opinion women and their body is nature and how we come shouldn't be tampered with.
