Performance Art Video

I am not like yesterday

My performance video is about me working and trying to improve me. My personality was more like mixed feelings when it comes to choosing specific things for anyone who would take my opinion, it could be objects or an individual. That was my personality since I was young. As I started to grow up I’ve heard lots of people talking about my personality and how I should change it and interact with more people because my personality had no change which means it's the same but older. I started to hear lots of advice and some people started saying things like stop being shy, read books, educate yourself to become a better version of yourself. A quote that made me feel that I can relate is “Even though she was frequently criticized and even ostracized by the press and the public, she fought her way through all the hardships with her creativity and challenging artwork.” Despite facing criticism and ostracization from the public, this quote resonates with many of us, as it encourages us to fight for our goals and achieve even better results. Sometimes, criticism can even lead to even better outcomes, making us more determined to achieve our goals. Moreover, I started to read books and watch tv about self esteem and can you improve yourself to be better and stronger and still be kind but not tough. A quote that I really liked from Ways of Seeing Chapter 1 is “The way we see things is affected by what we know or what we believe” I really liked this quote which at the beginning of the chapter highlights the impact of our perceptions, whether influenced by personal experiences or other’s opinions, on our beliefs. Sometimes, our beliefs are influenced by someone else's beliefs and that affects the way we see things. In addition, I can relate to this quote because my own perceptions have been influenced by the opinions of others. I want to end with one of my favorite quotes from Yoko Ono’s reading which is "In the simplicity of vulnerability, strength is found. To expose oneself is not an act of helplessness but a testament to the courage that resides within the human spirit". Always working on improvement and growth to become a better version of oneself, vulnerability needs courage and it allows strength to shine through instead of being helpless.
